Saffron 685, a Turkish joint on Townsend, runs a happy hour from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on weekdays. Apps are $2.00, beers (except Chimay) are $3.00.

I stopped by a few days ago looking for a tide-me-over-until-dinner snack. Ordered hummus and falafel, no drink. Food good but not fantastic. Tab, including tax and tip was $5 and change. Fell asleep when I got home, not waking until food options were pretty much nil. Wasn't hungry, so my snack ended up being dinner. Hard to beat five-bucks-and-change for dinner for something other than fast food.
