Jamie Laurent's a Video Star!
A flack, er, fine public relations professional asked me to link to OURsceneTV.com's video of Absinthe's and Top Chef Season 5's Jamie Laurent visiting some of her favorite places to eat in her hometown of New York City. Now I'm not a big NYC fan but I like Absinthe (the place, haven't tried the drink) and Jamie's cute (sorry, girls, she's taken) and the clip is entertaining, so what the hey.
Aside to the flack, er, fine PR professional who asked me to post: When you ask me to link to something, don't send a multicast e-mail. I may not BE special but I want to FEEL special.
Aside to OURsceneTV.com's web content meister: I understand that DO, DUMP, MARRY sounds less violent than BANG, MARRY, KILL but might I suggest changing the order to DO, MARRY, DUMP? The current order is too close to scatological for comfort, especially when you're interviewing a chef.
Aside to Jamie: I'm so glad you picked Julia Child for DUMP in DO, DUMP, MARRY. With Julia departed to the Great Kitchen in the Sky, any other answer would have been downright creepy.

Lots of inside baseball in this post. I only understood about a third of it. But don't fret too much - a third is only slightly less than the 40% understanding I have of most of what I read these days. Ever try to parse an Obama speech? BTW, Absinthe in NYC is one of my favorites, too. Great first date spot.

Sorry, but I'm going to confuse you even more. Yes, the video was shot in NYC. Yes, Jamie's from NYC. However, she's the chef at Absinthe in San Francisco, not NYC.
I'll take your word that Absinthe in NYC is a fine establishment. I'll not try it for a first date, however. I don't want to incur the homicidal wrath that would be sure to follow from Mackie.
Here's a tip on how to better enjoy speeches from Obama or any other politician, for that matter:
1) Follow @anamariecox on Twitter (trust me on this one)
2) Note when she posts rules for press conference or speech drinking game
3) Lay in provisions
4) Watch event or, better, follow live Tweets or liveblogs
5) Drink according to the rules
The above will not make what's said more comprehensible but it will make the experience much more fun!
