Grumping Out For Life

I sensed that this blog had, in some small way, made it when I started getting e-mails from flacks, er, sorry, fine public relations professionals about this or that event. The latest one came in the promotion of a good cause (and no, we’re not talking about my wallet, worthy as I think that cause may be).

April 24 marks Dining Out For Life day in both the East Bay and San Francisco. A myriad, a veritable cornucopia of restaurants will donate 25% of their dinner proceeds (some are also including liquor proceeds in the mix) to a variety of HIV/AIDS relief organizations.

A number of my favorite San Francisco restaurants are participating, including Acme Chophouse, Chenery Park, Firefly, Foreign Cinema, Fringale and South Park Café. I’m not familiar with any of the East Bay participants but note that a couple have upped the ante to 50%.

Let’s face it, folks, if you’re reading this, you’re probably going to eat out on 4/24. If you don’t dine out often, why read a restaurant blog? So, make a point to patronize one of the participating restaurants. It won’t cost you anything extra and you’ll be supporting a good cause.
